DESCRIPTION: APW - Elgin, B.W. Raymond, Grade 478, 21J, 16S, gold-filled OF original Elgin case, Montgomery white enamel SS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, striped pattern nickel damascene, s#42075112. A superb example of this railroad grade watch, complete with its rarely seen original box and papers. Inspection tag within box bearing correct movement serial number indicates that this watch was "released from the Elgin factory" on October 28th, 1944.
CONDITION: Mvt: Running, virtually mint cosmetic mvt condition overall, bright lustrous surfaces are nearly pristine with only a very few tiny micro-fine scratches; nearly flawless dial with very small flake to left rim of seconds-register; nearly mint hands; case shows very little wear, fine to micro-fine scratches to rear, no dents or dings, vertical brushed finish to rear remains fully present, minuscule sliver of wear to brass forming to portions of high lip of bezel immediately adjacent crystal; tight bow, crown shows very little wear; box in fine condition showing medium wear and some soiling, end label with some loss to its lower portion including first few digits of s# but remaining digits of 75112 confirm definitive match to the present watch, inner papers with some creases, wear, and one with tears.
